Interesting idea for the government to be spending £15million pounds on training volunteers in mental health. The courses are free and starting in the Autumn this year. With figures showing that one in four adults will experience mental health problems in any year this extra support and awareness is critical. The courses will teach volunteers to access their own mental health as well as coping techniques on how to reduce stress levels. Crucially, they will also be trained on how to help others deal with health issues. To be known as mental health first aid, this investment seems to show the understanding of the government regarding this increasing problem.
